Here are a few things to keep in mind when you arrive in the US...

Avoid anyone who solicits you with allegedly low-cost transportation services.
Only use authorised or well-known transportation during your visit.
If you experience a problem, note the identification number of the vehicle for investigative purposes.
Before leaving the airport, get specific directions to your final destination to avoid getting lost (this is particularly easy to do when you first start to drive on the opposite side of the road).
If collecting a hire car, use the hire cars shuttle service or follow signs for rental car collection.
On collection of your rental car, remember to get a map and directions for returning your car on your departure day - This will be far from your mind, but you'll be glad you did as it will save time and worry.
